All puns aside, it was a very Good Friday yesterday. I maneuvered through the crowds of people towards the Catedral de San José just in time to see the start of the procession at 3:00 pm.
People were handing out pamphlets telling which streets to watch the procession. A couple boys were carrying a pole at the front of the procession showing which number corresponded to the pamphlets. The last number was 32 and ended back at the cathedral pictured above. Oh, did I mention this procession went around the entire city for over 7 hours? I imagine the people carrying these giant floats around enjoyed a much deserved rest after all was said and done.
So here are some of the pictures from the daytime procession, followed by evening and night time in the following posts. Enjoy!
I changed locations to get some pictures from La Merced
It was kind of hard to move around the streets a few hours after the procession started since most of the roads were blocked off, but I was able to make my way back to the Central Park and take a little break! See next post: It was a “Good Friday” (Evening) in La Antigua
